Yuri Dokter

Yuri Dokter has been active in the music industry since 1988, with a career spanning roles as an artist signed to international labels and publishers, recording studio owner, and founder of multiple record labels and music publishing ventures. In 2005, he founded DJ Monitor, a pioneering company specializing in music recognition technology (MRT) to monitor music usage at clubs, festivals, and live events globally.

Under his leadership, DJ Monitor developed proprietary algorithms, hardware, and an extensive audio fingerprint database to enable accurate and scalable rights monitoring. In 2022, AlphaTheta Corporation (Pioneer DJ) acquired a strategic stake in DJ Monitor to collaborate on innovative solutions for music recognition and data capture.

This partnership led to the launch of KUVO powered by DJ Monitor, an advanced monitoring solution that combines direct metadata capture from AlphaTheta’s professional DJ software and hardware with DJ Monitor’s MRT technology — bridging the gap between performance and reporting with unprecedented accuracy and transparency.

DJ Monitor works with a global network of Associations like AFEM, International Nightlife, VVEM, NTIA, venues such as Fabric, Ministry of Sound, Drumsheds, Bootshaus, Ushuaïa, Hï, UNVRS, Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) such as BUMA/Stemra, SENA, PRS for Music, PPL, BMI, APRA AMCOS, SABAM, and GRAMEX, as well as with major DSPs, broadcasters, publishers, and platforms including Apple Music and Billboard.

In addition to leading DJ Monitor, Yuri serves as Co-Chair of the CMO Workgroup at the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) and Co-Chair of the Music Recognition Technology Workgroup at DDEX, advocating for fairer, more transparent royalty distribution through better technology and standards in music rights monitoring.
